BLOGGING ABOUT THE BLUE HILL PENINSULA
After college graduation, my summer job at Oakland House Seaside Resort made fun shopping trips to nearby Blue Hill, Maine.
After graduating from Trinity Western University in April, I decided New England would be a great place to spend the summer. I had never been to the East Coast before, so I was skeptical that it could hold as much beauty and interest for me as the West Coast had. After accepting a job at Oakland House Seaside Resort I was excited to find that I was wrong.
One of the best parts of living on the Blue Hill Peninsula is the variety of shops that showcase local artists and their work
While wandering along the sidewalks in the lazy coastal village of Blue Hill the other day I found my new favorite place: Bella Calore which is owned by Ginger Manna. A beautiful, dark haired woman with rosy cheeks and a twinkle in her eye, she features work by herself, and many other local artists from the Blue Hill Peninsula. The art work includes beautiful and unique handmade jewelry, funky purses, and mini-paintings.
With great glee my staff member friend and I found ourselves seperated from a bit of summer earnings for some delightful treasures. I purchased an awesome purse handmade by Jean Olizett of Brooklinl. My friend purchased a pair of dangly bead earrings made by Coral O'Brian (a 13 year-old friend of the owner's daughter).
I think the eclectic variety of goods and the artists that make them are what sets Bella Calore apart and makes this little shop a must-stop spot in the village.
Staffmember Heather Ross.
