Birches   (Bed to sleep 2)
On a grassy hill, its back to the woods. Drive up and park on the grass. Knotty pine paneling, eat-in living room with granite fireplace and hide-a-bed couch. A large picture window overlooks the gardens, century-old Oakland House Hotel, and the fields beyond. Furnishings are a mix of new and comfy old. There is a bathroom with tub and shower, a king bedroom. Kitchen with small electric oven and microwave oven.

Ledges   (Bed to sleep 2)
Woodsy log cabin. Short “walk-in” path. Knotty pine paneling, finished ceilings, hardwood floors, carpet, vintage cottage antiques, and mementos. King bedroom and bathroom with tub and shower. Eat-in living room with stone fireplace and hide-a-bed couch. Kitchenette with microwave. Wooded view from the living room and deck with glimpses of the sparkling ocean below.

Oak Grove   (Bed to sleep 2)
Cozy cabin amongst the oaks, drive-up access. Situated high above the water’s edge. Eat-in living room has picture windows with spectacular overlook spanning the Reach, Deer Isle, Pumpkin Island Lighthouse, and the Camden Hills beyond. Living room has granite fireplace, knotty pine paneling, and hide-a-bed couch. Queen bedroom and bathroom with tub and shower. Kitchen with cooktop and convection/microwave oven.

Homestead East   (Bed to sleep 2)
On a bluff overlooking Penobscot Bay, with the sea right below. Grassy outdoor lounging areas. Drive-up access. Duplex with single door connecting to Homestead West but usually used separately. Knotty pine paneling, twin bedroom, eat-in living room with hide-a-bed couch and fireplace, bathroom with tub and shower. Kitchenette with microwave.

Homestead West   (Bed to sleep 2)
The West side of Homestead duplex, similar to Homestead East, but with a queen bedroom, and same magnificent view. Kitchenette with microwave oven.

Flagstaff   (beds to sleep 4)
Log cottage built from timber grown at Oakland House. Drive-up parking. Open ceiling with log rafters, comfortable refinished rustic furniture from a bygone era, full width covered front porch in woodsy surrounds. Granite fireplace in the living room with hide-a-bed couch, queen bedroom, twin bedroom, bathroom with tub and shower, campy eat-in kitchen area.

Grindstone   (beds to sleep 4)
Woodsy log cottage with a short “walk-in” pathway. High ceiling, open log rafters, stone fireplace in the eat-in living room with single-size hide-a-bed love seat. Two bedrooms (a queen, a twin). Bathroom with tub and shower. Full kitchen. The covered front porch has glimpses of the sparkling ocean below.

Crow's Nest   (beds to sleep 4)
Log cottage, once the innkeeper’s parents’ summer home. It is the highest cottage in elevation, close parking, front porch with magnificent bird’s eye view of Eggemoggin Reach and Islands. Charming interior with open log beams, two bedrooms (a king and a twin), kitchen, microwave oven, eat-in dining/living room with stone fireplace and hide-a-bed sofa, an office with desk, and a bathroom with tub and shower.

Lone Pine - Year Round   (beds to sleep 4)
Log cabin built on a prime rocky overlook. It has knotty pine paneling, finished ceilings, and covered porch. While maintaining its rustic charm, it has a modern eat-in kitchen and restored historic cottage furnishings. Drive-up access with short path. Twin beds in one bedroom, queen bed in another, bathroom with big tub and shower. Amenities including satellite TV and VCR. Living room has granite fireplace, hardwood floors, and carpets. Quiet setting with winding walkway opening to spectacular view of the entire bay. Private terrace. Phone installed.

Westerly   (beds to sleep 4)
The most recently built cottage, waterfront with slight setback amidst mature oaks and pines. Drive-up access. Pickled pine paneling, cottage furnishings, large fireplace in open living room with full-sized hide-a-bed sofa, dining room and big windows facing the ocean, islands, and hills beyond. Twin bedroom and king bedroom both adjoin bathroom with tub and shower. Large kitchenette with microwave oven. Large oceanside deck. Sandy beach and cove below.

Boathouse - Year Round   (beds to sleep 5)
Originally a boathouse built right at the ocean’s edge. At very high tides water comes slightly underneath. Off road parking and little “walk-in” path. The eat-in living room has stone fireplace, wide oceanfront window wall, hide-a-bed sofa. Twin bedroom and queen + single bedroom both adjoin bathroom with tub and shower. Entry hall and small full kitchen and microwave. Outdoor deck and chairs with stairway down to the sea. Installed phone.

Acorn, 1st Floor   (beds to sleep 5)
Part of the old three-story icehouse, three bedrooms (a twin, a single, and a double), bathroom with claw-footed tub, and living room with large fireplace. It has antique furnishings, but campy and relaxed. Drive-up parking. Covered porch with view across the lawn toward the mansard roofed restaurant and its flower garden. The ocean is down the hill beyond. No kitchenette, small refrigerator.

Acorn, 2nd and 3rd Floors   (beds to sleep 7)
Accommodations on the 2nd f loor with four very campy bedrooms (a queen, two twins and a double), beadboard walls, Victorian furniture, a stairway to the 3rd floor lounging room and big bathroom with claw-footed tub. Window views over the lawn toward the mansard roofed restaurant and garden beyond. No kitchenette, small refrigerator.

Hideaway   (beds to sleep 8)
A two-story house, at the side of the field between the restaurant and the sea. Drive-up parking. The view from the screened front porch is of the field, trees, and ocean. The large living room is finished in light pine. It has large windows, abundant comfortable seating, fireplace, dining table, antiques and knickknacks. A master queen bedroom with bathroom and shower, and kitchenette with cooktop and microwave are on the first floor. The second floor has three large bedrooms (two twins and a queen) and a bathroom with tub and shower.

Bluff   (beds to sleep 9)
On a secluded, maturely wooded rocky point, this two-story summer home has three sides practically on the sea. Updated Victorian, big ocean-side windows, and friendly old furniture with personal touches. First floor has full kitchen with microwave, half bath, living room with hide-a-bed couch, gas fireplace, TV and VCR, adjacent dining room, master queen bedroom with bathroom with shower, and ocean-side screened porch. Second floor has one twin and a queen bedroom opening out to the upper level screened porch, a twin bedroom, a single bedroom, and a bathroom with tub and shower. Drive-up access. Installed phone.

High Season Dining for MAP Cottage Guests:

All meals are served in Oakland House Seaside Resort's Rusticator Restaurant (circa 1767). There, one or more dining rooms are set up specifically for families with children. The other dining rooms are arranged for adult couples, singles, and varying sized groups.
Buffet Style Breakfast - 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Sunday Brunch Buffet - With expanded hours 9:00-11:00 a.m.. Select your seating time (early or late).
Lunch - Box lunches can be provided at additional cost by request in advance.
Dinner - Gourmet fine dining with choice of entrée ( seafood, meat or poultry, vegetarian, etc.) including bread, dessert and other tempting items. Childrens menu available. Seating from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Steamed Lobster Picnic on the Beach - Thursdays (6:00 p.m. sharp) with alternate seating for a dinner entrée at the Oakland House Hotel Restaurant.

Good to bring with you:

Flashlights - handy on country nights when walking through woodsy paths to cottages.
Battery operated lanterns - occasionally the power goes off for awhile. No candles, thank-you, due to fire hazard.
Guide books - to the trees, birds, shells, fish, stars, starfish, seaweed, flowers.
Binoculars - to see eagles, more.
Windbreaker, Sweatshiirts,Walking Shoes and Beach Shoes - whale watches are really chilly out to sea, evenings can be chilly.
Beach blankets and towels - Blanket to lie on in the sand/ towels to wrap-up-in after swimming.
Maps - We have local maps. Delorme’s map of Maine is great.
Cameras and film
Sun Gear - Glasses, floppy hat, sunblock and tanning lotion.
Books - Bring some or visit the Brooksville Public library. It has free internet access too.
Fishing gear - no license required in saltwater. Licenses are required for freshwater fishing.


Glossary:
  • Campy - describes an unfinished quality such as exposed wall studs, old-fashioned or rustic details. Casual, yet very comfortable!
  • Bedrooms - “single” means one twin bed, “twin” means two twin beds, “double” means one double bed, “queen” means one queen bed, “king” means one king bed.
  • Kitchenette - has a refrigerator, sink, counter space, toaster, cooktop or hot plate, automatic coffeemaker. Some have microwave ovens. No oven.
  • Phone Service Available - some cottages have phone jacks even though they don’t have “installed phones.” For guests desiring the convenience of an in-cottage phone, it can usually be arranged a month or more in advance of arrival at current phone company rates.
