If you enjoy dining by candlelight with fresh flowers on your table amidst the historic surroundings of a 240 year-old land grant inn, then our Rusticator Restaurant is just right for you! The Rusticator Restaurant in the original Oakland House Hotel is much like it was 119 years ago when Gram and Gramp Herrick first opened their colonial homestead to rusticators (summer vacationers from New York, Boston, Philadelphia and beyond) on July 4th, 1889.
It has the timeless feel of bygone summers overflowing with warmth and simple pleasures. You still dine on the Victorian oak tables and blue onion china but the food has evolved considerably since Gram and Gramp’s early years. Relax in an unhurried atmosphere and choose from our ever-changing fine dining menu that features locally grown produce, meats, poultry and seafood as much as possible. Our own organic gardens provide the extra special touches in herbs and edible flowers not found anywhere else.

Join us for an experience you won’t want to miss. Arrive early; stroll in the garden or meander down to the shore. We’ve a dock on Eggemoggin Reach, so you can arrive by boat. Please call ahead for reservations so we can make sure you get the excellent service you deserve. We offer fine wines and brews by the bottle or glass.

No summer on the Maine coast is complete without it! You’ll love it even if you don't like lobster. There are also hot dogs and hamburgers, corn-on-the-cob, seafood chowder, cornbread, cold slaw, leafy salad, potato salad, ice cream and brownies.
Will you be vacationing with your family? We welcome families and family reunion groups, and have several dining rooms specifically for families with children. Your children may choose from either the children's menu or the regular menu. Box lunches are available when ordered the evening before.

A full buffet breakfast (with varying offerings including bacon, sausage, eggs and omelets made to order, fresh fruits, juices, cereals, muffins, pancakes, French toast and more) is included with your reservation during the summer and with a sumptious buffet brunch each Sunday. You will be served at the Rusticator Restaurant each morning throughout the summer. If you are a guest of Shore Oaks Seaside Inn in the pre- or post-season you will be served a full breakfast in Shore Oaks Seaside Inn’s shorefront dining room. Guests with off-season self-serve cottage rates, your cottage has either a kitchen or kitchenette in which to prepare your own meals.
Birthdays and special events are cause for celebration. Be sure to let us know in advance so we can remember to have something special for the birthday girl or boy (man or woman, grandfather or grandmother, and others). Ask about special menus for group events, meetings, wedding receptions, lawn parties, and lobster dinner events.
