May 18th-20th weekend:Wings Waves & Woods is Deer Isle, Maine ’s Migratory Birding Weekend. Local birders lead conservancy and beach walks plus boat rides to see puffins, seas birds and eagles.
National Public Radio, All Things Considered, February 24, 2008, Commentary by Jacki Leyden. "Whether it's a common sparrow or a rare warbler, it's a human instinct to watch birds. At least, that's the premise of Jonathan Rosen's new book, The Life of the Skies: Birding at the End of Nature, which explores the relationship between humans and birds."
We have our own 50 acres of hiking trails. The best time to see and hear birds is as they wake at dawn. The musical bird calls that ring from the forest, lake and oceanfront are magical.
