Marry Me at Oakland House
The irresistible destination wedding shows no sign of losing its popularity, and the Oakland House’s coastal charms are again available for brides and grooms who wish to be wed by the side of the sea. We have a long tradition hosting a variety of nuptials, simple ceremonies under the oak groves of Cathedral Field to ambitious traditional affairs under tents on the great lawn. Cocktails in the Barnacle barn, lobster bakes by the shore, newlywed brunch celebrations in the inn dining room.
Variety and flexibility in our down-home Maine style make planning a tailor-made celebration a pleasure. Families and guests choose among cottages, the Acorn Guest House and private inn rooms for accommodation. Our many activities from kayaking to hiking, boating and sailing, karaoke to table tennis, will make for a wedding to remember.
Lobster Bakes by the Seashore
Almost from the very beginning of its July 4, 1889, opening, the Oakland House guests have enjoyed their lobster dinners on their laps, right there on the Reach beach, as the sun dips into the ocean.
We offer those traditional lobster dinners once a week, but will also cater private affairs on request for small groups and families. Many guests come to Maine for their lobster and we offer the most authentic Maine experience possible.
Family Reunions … Special Occasions … Celebrations
Let us help you plan a special occasion to remember. We’ve hosted artists colonies, family reunions, book groups, church retreats, alumni get-aways. Our concierge team is happy to help with all the arrangements, from accommodations, dining and group activities. Rental of the Barnacle for groups not staying at the Oakland House is also possible.
Our farm-to-table restaurant is open to the public and we have private rooms available for groups and can also cater meals alfresco by the shore. Just give us call and let us help you customize your special celebration.
